Your Questions About Bass Fishing Answers

John asks…
Now that I know what is tube bait, what are the different colors for? Which are best for bass & catfish?
Thanks for two great answers to my fishing terms question. I am sure different colors are for different fish and different situations but I have know idea. Thanks for the help again.

admin answers:
A few easy rules to remember that will help you chose the right color.
Choosing the right color for tubes is almost the same for any lure. You need to know your conditions and the type of food that the fish are feeding on.
For clear water you want to go with natural colors (natural as in colors like the fish and food sources around the fish).
For murky and muddy water, use white, chartreuse, black, dark blue, black/blue, or any BRIGHT or DARK color. Also it doe snot hurt to add a rattle to the bait in murky water.
When you re on the water, look and see what type of bait fish there are, and also look to see if there are any other sources of food (craw fish, frogs, ect) You want to match colors with the colors of their food sources. If you do this you will get their attention. The bass will see the same color variations, and then because your lure is different they should strike yours instead of the regular food source.
Use these rules for different lures and you will have an idea on how to chose a color for any lure. (note: if one color is not working don;t be afraid to try new ones, also remember that just because one color worked before doe snot mean it will work all day or in all spots.) you should re assess the conditions every time you change spots, lakes or days.
Hope this helps

Why use a leader when fishing?
I’ve heard of people using leaders in all types of fishing.I fish for carp, catfish and bass and I’ve heard of uses for every type of these fish.I;m just wondering how and why this is used?
Best answer given for someone that actually answers the whole question.

admin answers:
#1. By using a leader you don’t reduce your main line when switching out lures and rigs. (Think about it; every time you decide to change lures or Carp/Catfish rigs you cut a portion of your mainline!)
#2. With the invention of Flurocarbon, many people use Fluro leaders as a way to disguise & “steath-a-fy” the end of their line better. (Flurocarbon is virtually invisible because of it’s refractive index thus making it GREAT leader material.)
#3. When fishing for “toothy” critters it helps to use a wire or heavy mono leader.
#4. Because Braided lines have such high strength (and won’t easily pull-out off a snag) using a leader is generally mandatory.

Fishing out of Gloster Massachusetts?
I live in Haverhill Massachusetts and my grandfather lives in Beverly Massachusetts and every spring through the end of summer we go out in my grandfathers boat and go catch straper bass fish. We fish out of Gloster Massachusetts. I was just wounding if anyone goes fishing in Gloster Massachusetts knows any good place that you can catch straper bass at so this year coming up we can try some new spots and see if they are any good because I am sick of all the old spots that we fish at. Serious people only to answer this question.

admin answers:
If you caught fish in your old fishing spots then the best thing to do is to look for the same things in different areas that should produce fish as well. If the fish are there in one spot they will be there in others as well. Hope this helps out.

Fishing tragedy ….. bass wont bite anything?
Hi im josh my uncle owns four ponds and one has brim ,bass, and carp
the biggest bass in my life i cought there but since they’ve been bedding they havent bitten a thing ……..
if anyone knows how to get them to bite somthing if you know please answer

admin answers:
Keep dropping a plastic bait on them while they are bedding. It will draw a reaction strike, not a feeding one. Just keep bombing them with it until they take it. You may have to switch to different baits until you find one they’ll hit. I would start with a lizard, texas rigged. You could drop shot them too. This puts the weight on bottom with a leader and hook up top. Put a finesse or straight worm on it and cast past the bed. Reel it up to the bed and just wiggle the worm. You could stay in the same spot for a long period of time with that rig. Tight lines and good luck.
